Expanded Bio
Ally Jane (AJ) Ayers is the Co-Founder of Brooklyn Fi, where she helps tech professionals, founders, and creatives make smart decisions with complex money, especially when equity compensation and taxes are involved. With a background in writing and editing, AJ brings a rare ability to translate complicated financial concepts into clear, practical guidance people can actually use.
Early in her career, AJ watched friends build successful creative and tech careers while feeling overwhelmed or outright stuck when it came to money. That gap between professional success and financial confidence is what pushed her to pursue the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation and co-create The Liquidity Event, a podcast focused on real-world financial decisions, equity compensation, and tax strategy.
AJ specializes in equity compensation and tax planning and has guided clients through IPOs, acquisitions, tender offers, and other major liquidity events. In addition to her CFP® certification, she is also an Enrolled Agent and a Certified Equity Professional, giving her a deep, technical understanding of how equity and taxes actually work, not just how they are supposed to work on paper.
She is known for her direct, approachable style and for helping clients feel confident navigating high-stakes financial moments. AJ co-hosts The Liquidity Event with Shane Mason, where they break down financial news, market trends, and planning strategies without the usual jargon or fear-mongering.
AJ has been featured in The Information, Cheddar, and The Journal of Accountancy, and regularly speaks at industry conferences and events. She also appears as a guest expert on podcasts discussing equity compensation, tax planning, and modern financial decision-making.
