Shane Mason, CPA/PFS, CFP®, CPWA®
Shane Mason, CPA, CFP®, CPWA is a Co-Founder of the firm. He started his career in Big Four accounting, but quickly realized that traditional financial services weren’t built to serve the needs of young, creative professionals with real income and no one to call for help.
That realization led to the launch of a boutique tax firm, which evolved into Brooklyn Fi, a national firm known for its technical depth, smart systems, and human-first advice. Shane’s expertise spans both tax and financial planning, with a focus on building scalable processes for delivering high-quality advice.
He is a frequent speaker at accounting and advisory industry conferences, where he shares insights on equity compensation, tax strategy, and building modern advisory firms.
Expanded Bio
Shane Mason is the Co-Founder of Brooklyn Fi, where he helps tech professionals and self-employed creatives navigate complex tax and financial decisions with clarity and precision. He brings a deep technical background to his work, grounded in years of public accounting and hands-on experience with high-income, equity-heavy situations.
Shane began his career in public accounting, spending seven years at PricewaterhouseCoopers and Raich, Ende, Malter. During that time, he worked closely with publicly traded technology companies in Austin, Texas, before eventually relocating to Brooklyn. That foundation continues to shape his approach today, especially when it comes to tax strategy, equity compensation, and long-term planning.
In addition to being a CPA, Shane is also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and Certified Private Wealth Advisor™, giving him a rare combination of technical tax expertise and broader wealth management perspective. He is known for focusing on the details that matter, particularly around New York taxes and high-stakes planning decisions.
Shane co-hosts The Liquidity Event podcast with Ally Jane Ayers, where they break down financial news, market trends, and planning strategies in a way that feels practical, direct, and grounded in real client experience. He regularly speaks at industry conferences, including AICPA events, and appears as a guest expert on podcasts discussing tax strategy, equity compensation, and modern financial planning.
